Academics
How we teach.
Good teaching is mostly good attention. This is what that looks like in our classrooms.
A typical lesson.
Begin with a question
Children meet an idea through a puzzle, a story or something they can touch.
Learn together
The teacher explains clearly, and pupils discuss in pairs and small groups.
Practise with support
Everyone practises at a suitable level, with a teacher close by.
Reflect and check
Children explain what they learned, and the teacher notes what to do next.
Support for every learner.
Extra help
Short, friendly sessions for children who are finding a topic hard.
Room to stretch
Harder problems and wider reading for children who are ready.
Language support
Gentle help for children who are new to the language of instruction.
